Green is Beau-fi-ful

I suppose it was in honor of St. Patty’s day tomorrow that Logan decided to make a green masterpiece. Below is a transcription of the process.

Logan’s giving Lex and I a commentary while he’s coloring in his Thomas the Tank Engine coloring book

“Everyone gets green, Mommy”

“I’m almost done!”

“Thomas LOVES green!”

“OK, next is James!”

“James wants some green.”

(the whole two page spread is completely green)

“Next is Gordon, Mommy.”

“I’m making green for Gordon!”

“Lookit mommy, Thomas is green, Edward is green, Henry,

James, Gordon, Percy, everyones is green!”

“Oops, one more.”

“Ok all done! Lookit all these engines! They’re beau-fi-ful!

Funny fellas

Logan said today while playing with his Buzz Lightyear toy “I’m Buzz Lightyear…I come and seek!”

Do dooooo

{That’s the sound of an imaginary doorbell ringing if you’re not familiar with The Upside Down Show}

Thanks to my mom, Lex has been doing amazingly well with potty training for over a week now. I admit it’s been harder to train me than it has been to train him. I hate diapers with a passion, but man they’re so much easier than trekking to the bathroom every 45-60 mins!

Lex has the cutest bathroom ritual. Every time he goes to the bathroom he stands outside the closed door, pushes an imaginary button under the doorknob and says “Doo doooooo.” I told Caley about it the other day and he said he started it. It cracks me up that Lex does it absolutely every time and never forgets. If only this cuteness could extend to every aspect of our day.

Where’s your Mozy?

So, again, I have had my external hard drive (EHD) fail! I lost a lot of important data, but luckily I had meticulously backed up gobs and gobs of photos before I went on vacation earlier this month. While Caley discussed this with Tom, Tom informed him that he’d started using Mozy - an online backup company. For only $4.95 a month you can have UNLIMITED backups! I ran and signed up immediately. I’ve spent this afternoon getting stuff cleaned up and ready to backup. It will support any drives installed on your computer and also EHDs plugged into your computer.

Check it out, I promise you won’t be disappointed! If you sign up for a year you get one free month and if you sign up for two years you get three free months! I signed up for 2 years for only $103. It would cost that just in blank DVDs not to mention how much time it would take to get all of my scrap materials properly backed up. It runs in the background on your computer steadily backing up any folders/file types you tell it to watch for.

It takes awhile to get it up and running - especially for all my digi-photo loving, digi-scrap addicted friends. We’re talking several days to get everything uploaded, but again, it just works in the background uploading and will then watch for changed/new files and will back them up automatically.

Edited to add - I forgot to say they even have free accounts! You can sign up for a free 2gb account.

Driving - Toddler Style

If you ever have the pleasure of taking a drive with us…you’ll often hear this mantra.

“Bubbas,” I say “What does Green mean?”

“GO!” They reply.

“What does Red mean?” I then ask.

“STOP!” They reply.

“What does Yellow mean?” I finally ask.

“GO FAST!” They yell.

Shopping gone awry

I belong to an AMAZING twins club. Every day 20-30 emails pass through my mailbox asking for advice, selling gently used children’s items, etc. The other day a mother emailed the group offering a collection of VHS tapes. Why would anyone want VHS tapes, you ask? Well we recently hooked up my 15 year old VCR for the boys and it still works perfectly! Over the past couple of years, though, I’d gotten rid of all my tapes! So I’ve been on the lookout for kids videos. I emailed her back and said I’d love to buy them.

The boys and I got out of the house this morning and on our way at about 10:30am. I’d told the mom that I’d be there at 11am. On my way I realized I didn’t have enough cash to buy the videos. I had a few other errands to do while we were out, so I decided to do one of them and get some cash back at the store. So we turned toward one of the malls and hit Party City.

30 mins later, still with no cash in hand, we left Party City. The boys had promised to be good if I didn’t put them in a cart but I was still herding them around the store the whole time. Ugh. Absolutely exhausting. Logan found a Thomas coloring book and Lex wanted a Hot Wheels coloring book so I got them those. I also found those paint with water books? No paints required, just a wet brush. I didn’t even know they made those anymore! So I got two of those. As soon as we reached the car, Logan wanted the Hot Wheels book and not the Thomas book and Lex wasn’t ready to share. *Sigh* So they fought and screamed about it all the way to the next store.

We arrive at the next store, still looking for a firetruck cake pan. We found the pan immediately, but Logan was VERY upset that we weren’t getting a race car pan instead. So he whined and cried about it all over the store. Just as he started settling down we happened to come across an aisle that had Thomas trains. WHY on earth does a craft store have Thomas trains?!?!? So now Logan was REALLY crying because I wouldn’t get him one. We finally left the store with our purchases but NO cash. *sigh*

The bank is right next door so we drove over there. There were no parking spaces out front and I refused to take the kids out of the car AGAIN just to get cash. So we drive to another bank that I knew had a drive through ATM. Paid the $2 randsom for cash and got on our way.

We got back on the freeway then, and headed toward the twin mom’s house. I start zoning out on the freeway and realize I’m practically home and forgot to get off the freeway earlier. I have to go up to the next offramp, go over the overpass and get back on the freeway going back the other way.

Finally I’m headed the right direction. I follow the directions I wrote down from yahoo to the twins’ house.  As I’m driving along I think it’s odd that Yahoo would take me so far down this one street - thought it would have told me to go to a different offramp if I really had to go that far. So I turned around and headed back up the road. After I got back where I started I realized i was wrong - again. Turned around - AGAIN - and headed back.

I FINALLY found the house and went up to the door. I knocked. I rang the bell. I rang the bell again. NO ONE IS HOME. Yes, you heard it right, after ALL that, I didn’t even get to pick up the videos. The MAIN reason we even left the house this morning.

So I finally headed for home to feed my two tired, cranky boys and get them down for a nap. Looking forward to doing this all again another day to pick up these videos. Ugh!!

Safety First

As Lex quickly approaches the limits of our current carseat, I’ve been researching new carseats and discussing them with my local twin’s club. The overwhelming consensus is the Britax line of carseats. They allow 5 point harnesses up to 80 pounds! And California is considering an 8 or 80 law for carseats. That means my children could be in carseats until they are 8 years old or 80 pounds. I have NO issues with this law, it is to protect the lives of our children. Shoulder straps in the car kill children because they are not designed for children. I also don’t personally like the belt positioning car seats, I prefer the 5 point harnesses even though that means a lot of buckling and unbuckling hassels for the next 5 years. Sure beats the alternative if something were to happen!

So, the seats we’re looking at purchasing in the next couple of months is the Britax Regent.

Thanks TVMOTC and Erika especially for the great information!

Public Service Announcement #1

On Logan’s behalf, I’m issuing Four Lil’ Feet’s first Public Service Announcement. Apparently when you introduce mustard to the nasal cavity it is extremely painful. Logan discovered this tonight as we dined on our gourmet meal of hot dogs, tater tots, buns, cheese and milk. If you know any toddlers, you know that meals are all about the condiments. Our meal could not commence until we had secured the proper amount of red, yellow and white ‘dip’ onto the boys’ plates. At which point Logan found it necessary to dip his finger into his mustard and then his nose? Well, your guess is as good as mine, but I’m quite certain that he won’t be doing it again any time soon. If the mustard itself wasn’t a deterrent enough, then perhaps Mommy trying to clean it all out with the corner of a washcloth was. Only time will tell.

The danger of pottys

You don’t realize how dangerous potty training can be for a little one. On Saturday when Daddy was home alone with Lex they took one of their many trips to the potty. In this particular trip Lex was simply in it for the sticker. He hopped up onto the potty, quickly announced that he deserved a sticker and went to hop immediately back off the potty. (He was using the big boy potty, btw - aka the toilet) In the process of sliding off the potty he caught his little delicate boy parts on the lid of the toilet. He cried out to Daddy…”Oh Daddy….I hurt my poop!”

I have absolutely NO idea when, where, how, why the boys starting referring to this part of their anatomy as their poop, but they have and daddy and I find it quite amusing. We correct them every time we hear it, but so far, the terminology has remained.

Will our kids need therapy in the future? Oh, you BETCHYA!!
